9:48 am - Anyone want a tiny black and white buddy?

squidb0i
We're worried that our black tetra won't survive a three and a half day trip across the country.
Our original adoptor is no longer able to take him/her/it.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_tetra

It's super easy to take care of, plays well with others, comes with a years worth of food, and we'll even toss in a 10 gallon tank if you like, though we prefer to keep it.

Message here or email endif dot org at gmail dot com to make arrangements. =]

I'm thinking of joining a gym in Madison. Any Advice? I'd really like some info on what people find they like here... that and if instead it'd be worth it to join the Gym's at the University of Wisconsin, Since I now work there.

Any Help?

12:04 am - $375 - roommate needed to share 2 bedroom apartment

casey_ann
Female roommate needed to share a 2 bedroom apartment located at 336 W Lakeside St in Madison, WI. Total rent is $750, and you would be responsible for half that. The lease starts August 1. All utilities (including heat) are included in the rent except for electricity, which is minor. Apartment is one of only four units in the building. There are ceiling fans in both bedrooms, and a wall-mounted air conditioner in the living room. Rooms are big, with huge closets. In each bedroom, there's a space above the closet for extra storage. There are hardwood floors in each room (except for the kitchen), and there's a washer and drier in the hallway right outside the door to the apartment! The kitchen has a refrigerator and a gas stove, but no microwave.

The apartment is in a beautiful neighbourhood, right across from an elementary school. The bus stops only a couple of blocks away (on Olin St.), and there's a water park right off of Olin St (only 2 or 3 blocks away)! The apartment is right next door to a lovely coffee shop/cafe, which also sells all colors of yarn if you're interested in knitting or crochetting. The lake is practically in your back yard... just on the other side of the railroad tracks next to the apartment building. It's really lovely, and you can see the capitol building across the lake from the living room window.

I was planning to rent the apartment with someone else, but she decided to get her own place instead, so my plans have sort of fallen through. I'm originally from Green Bay, but I'll be in Madison next year because I'm starting my first year of Pharmacy school. I haven't signed the lease yet, but I've filled out an application for the apartment... I've really got my heart set on this apartment.. I've looked at several other units in the Madison area, and this was by far the best one I've seen so far.

If you think you're interested, or if you want to know more information, please please please let me know. You can call me at (920) 471-6035, email me at caseyann1@iwon.com, or instant message me... my AIM screen name is caseyann100, and my Yahoo screen name is caseyann2. I need someone else to fill out an application for the apartment ASAP if I want the landlord to save it for me. Please let me know if you're interested!

4:16 pm - Cheapest way to move?

find_happiness
I'll be moving in a few weeks and was wondering if U-Haul is the cheapest way to go? I have 3 rooms to move, not a whole lot of furniture really but I need to make 4 stops (one in Brooklyn to my storage unit, one in Oregon to my old house, one in Ridgeway, by Dodgeville, to my old apartment and the last stop would be Cross Plains where my new apartment will be and then I'd have to return the truck to Madison). I'm guessing I'd need one of their medium sized truck....but with all the mileage I'll be doing does anyone have an idea of a cheaper way? I have 2 weeks to actually move but no vehicles large enough to move things like beds and large chairs, etc.. (I have a VW Bug and Golf...not much fits in either!). Any ideas or is there a cheaper place to rent a truck?

3:45 pm - WSUM Anniversary Party!!!

sarahbanana
Come celebrate our 3rd year on the air by bringing all your friends to the WSUM Anniversary Party now with more date auction action than ever before (the bringing your friends implies that you’ll be there too). If, for some reason, you don’t know about this, here’s your chance to find out:

It’s tonight, February 20, and it’s in the Great Hall at lovely historic Memorial Union! There will be awesome music provided by Screaming Cyn Cyn (and the Pons), If Then Else, and our own DJ David Muhammad! And it’s going to be radder than anything! EVER! Bring your friends, bring your roommates, bring your neighbors, bring your parents, bring your parents, bring your laundry. It’s $8 but there will be free food! Plus bring extra money and win yourself a hot date with a hot DJ!!

8:12 pm - Feb. massage deal

healerwithin
Hi folks. I'm a licensed massage therapist with a new, (to me), office downtown. I want to try out a sliding scale pricing system. I know there's folks here who can use a massage and can't really afford it. I'll stick more info behind the cut. Read more...Collapse )

Subject: [madisonfreecycle] Offer: Retro electric Range and Home Brewing Supplies

I have the following;
Bottle tree with large bottles still drying(for several years)
(2) 5 gallon carboys
bottle washer
Hydrometer
Air locks
misc ingredients
Brewing stove(see below)

This is a vintage appliance from the era before the avocado and harvest gold era.

White electric GE stove
40" wide, 3 burners and 1 built in deep fryer for all you health nuts. 1 regular size oven and 1 warming oven. I believe the part of the stove top that does not have any burners is also a warming surface
but am not sure. We can plug in and run to be sure.

Push button controls, Chrome accents, Built in Salt and pepper shakers

I brought this stove into my basement with intentions of brewing with it but never did. So no worries about big nasty spills. It is very clean. I was told that the deep fryer made awsome dohnuts.

http://www.freecycle.org/

The worldwide (!) Freecycle Network is made up of many individual groups across the globe. It's a grassroots movement of people who are giving (& getting) stuff for free in their own towns. Each local group is run by a local volunteer moderator (them's good people). Membership is free.

Maybe everyone knows about this, but I just discovered it - Freecycle where you can give away and/or receive items for *free* to reduce waste. Great idea:

8:58 am - for the foodies...

alyska
(from indigo_eyz)

Adam found us a really good deal on restaurant.com (via surfing gotapex.com). If you go to restaurant.com and enter code 48831 into the discount line (about halfway down the front page), it will take 70% of the price of the certificates you can buy on that site. The only Madison-y ones are Smoky's Club and Shelton (in Cross Plains), but we got a $25 gift certificate to Smoky's for $3!

Some restaurants you are buying a flat out dining certificates, others you are buying a certificate that entitles you to 50% off your food total. [info]nulldevice, take note. There's one of the 50% off dealies for Abu's Jerusalem of the Gold on there. With the discount, you can get a 50% discount coupon there for $1.88.

We snagged a few more for Smoky's (you can use one a month and they're good for a year) and a couple for Shelton's to give that a whirl. Basically, we snagged $125 worth of dining for $15. Woo! Just wanted to share the love...
